It's that time of the year when it’s good to get out, get some fresh air around you and explore the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion and all its natural beauty. Whether you want to visit a forest park, hike a mountain or do an activity, our region is abundant in outdoor happenings.  There is plenty to see and do and lots for you to participate in to ensure a memorable experience.

A special day for a very special person, Mother’s Day, also known as Mothering Sunday, is celebrated on Sunday, 30 March this year and it is a time to be grateful to our mothers for all the love and care she has shown us throughout our lives.  Obviously we should try to show our appreciation to our mother at all times but it is nice to have a day specifically dedicated to her. 

Join us as we celebrate the achievements of Patrick the man through themed experiences, events and celebrations.  Experience the fun at one of two Community Carnival Parades on Monday 17 March in Downpatrick and Newry and enjoy a range of local talent including buskers, bands, Irish dancers and traditional Irish music.

With the good weather approaching its time to get outdoors! The three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Mourne Mountains and Ring of Gullion feature several coastal paths and coastal walks that give you the opportunity to see and explore the picturesque scenery that hugs the coastline, some that are more accessible than others so make sure to wear sensible footwear!

The historic paddle steamer Waverley is set to return to Warrenpoint this May, following the success of the inaugural public cruise sailing from Warrenpoint last year.

This year, due to demand there will be two sailings from Warrenpoint. 

There are so many things to see and do in Mourne Gullion Strangford, that it was hard narrowing it down to just ten. We have complied a list of reasons to visit this unique and picturesque area and if it doesn't persuade you to visit Mourne, Gullion, Strangford this year, I don't know what will!
