Mourne Coastal Route

Make your day

  1. This stunning Mourne Mountains loop of the Mourne Coastal Route begins in Newcastle, County Down, and ends just outside Annalong, offering one of the most scenic driving routes in the Mourne Gullion Strangford region. The route winds along the edge of Tollymore Forest Park, through the dramatic peaks of the Eastern Mournes, before returning to the rugged coastline near Annalong village.
  2. Beginning at Castlewellan Forest Park and finishing near Corry Wood, this loop explores one of the oldest landscapes in the Mourne Gullion Strangford region. The land around Slieve Croob dates back over 400 million years, shaped by ancient ocean closure that formed today’s rugged peaks, rolling valleys, and the source of the River Lagan, which flows all the way to Belfast.
  3. Slieve Roosley Scenic Route is a circular loop that begins and ends in Rostrevor and takes you via the forest to Hilltown.
  4. Whitewater Scenic Loop of the Mourne Coastal Route begins in the bustling fishing port of Kilkeel and winds its way inland to Whitewater Bridge. Named after the Whitewater River, which flows from the Mourne Mountains to Mill Bay, this is the shortest of the scenic Mourne Coastal Scenic loops, perfect for a relaxed drive packed with stunning views and local heritage.
