What to do this May Bank Holiday in Mourne Gullion Strangford?

This May we are so lucky to have two bank holidays to take some time off to be with our friends and family, so let us show you how to enjoy every moment.

The Mourne Mountains, Ring of Gullion and Strangford Lough areas are home to expansive woodlands and dedicated parks. Whether you want to escape to the forest, spend a fun family day out in one of our many adventure play parks, or enjoy an event, you’ll be well catered for.

    Food for thought!!

Located in the southeast corner of Northern Ireland is the Mourne, Gullion, Strangford geopark.  The area is culturally rich and champions sustainable and local tourism experiences.

Mourne, Gullion and Strangford are areas where the landscape is rich and fertile allowing food to be grown and produced locally.  The coastal waters surrounding the region is home to the richest fishing waters in Ireland.  Our rivers and lakes are also home to some of the best freshwater catches.

Taste of Home Twilight Market in the Gaol

A night in gaol to remember!

Downpatrick Gaol was opened in 1796 and until its closure in 1830, was the holding place for many thousands of prisoners before their transportation to Australia but for us, our evening in gaol was one to remember and we didn’t want to leave!

Cahir Linn - City of the Pool

From local folklore we are told that there once was a city where Carlingford Lough is now – the beautiful Cahir Linn. The sunken city was supposedly located near Carlingford in Co. Louth overlooked by Slieve Foy, the mountain which was once an active volcano.
