About

The Dundrum InnNorthern Ireland’s Pub & Bar of the Year, National Pub & Bar Awards 2025 — sits in the heart of the beautiful village of Dundrum, overlooking Dundrum Bay and surrounded by the spectacular Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Family-owned by the Patterson family since September 2021, The Dundrum Inn has been a cornerstone of village life since 1834, when it was established as a spirit grocer. Today, as the only pub in the village, it remains a vibrant community hub, known for its warm hospitality, welcoming atmosphere, and memorable local character.

Located on Main Street in the centre of Dundrum, the inn enjoys a prime position on one of Northern Ireland’s most scenic coastal routes. It is just 1 hour from Belfast and 1.5 hours from Dublin, making it an ideal stop for visitors exploring the Mourne Mountains, County Down, and the wider east coast.

Dundrum itself is one of Northern Ireland’s most picturesque villages. Set beside the bay and close to the Mourne Mountains, it offers easy access to some of the region’s best-loved attractions. Nearby Murlough National Nature Reserve is Northern Ireland’s first nature reserve and home to an ancient 6,000-year-old sand dune system, managed by the National Trust. The area is perfect for walking, birdwatching, and enjoying the nearby Blue Flag beach.

The village is also home to Dundrum Castle, a striking 12th-century landmark perched on the hill above the village. From its grounds, visitors can enjoy panoramic views across the Mourne Mountains, Dundrum Bay, and Murlough National Nature Reserve.

For golfers, The Dundrum Inn is ideally placed just 4 miles from Royal County Down Golf Club, with other excellent courses nearby including Ardglass, Downpatrick, Spa, and Mayobridge. Guests can also enjoy a day at Downpatrick Racecourse, just a 10-minute drive away, or explore the walking and mountain biking trails of Tollymore Forest Park and Castlewellan Forest Park.

Inside, The Dundrum Inn offers everything visitors hope for in an authentic Irish pub: character, comfort, conversation, and plenty of craic. With stunning surroundings, friendly locals, and a genuine welcome from your hosts, a visit here is one to remember long after the journey home.

Come for the views. Stay for the craic.
