Shining Light

About

Downpatrick and surrounding areas have long been home to songwriters, bands and musicians, with a rich musical heritage that continues to inspire new generations. A current group of artists has formed a musical collective under the banner 'Shining Light'

In association with Down Arts Centre, a series of special evenings will celebrate and promote original artists, their creativity, diversity and talent.

Join us for fresh music, shared stories and songs written right here in County Down.

Friday 18th September – Lineup

Jack Noade: 17-year-old musician from Downpatrick who is releasing his debut EP. The sound can be described as spoken-word acoustic rock using literary intimacy and tense guitar melodies.

The Thing Is: Formed in Downpatrick, The Thing Is performs raw, emotionally unfiltered songs featuring fuzzy guitars, intimate and soaring vocals, with themes of survival and female rage. Championed by BBC Introducing, the sky is the limit for this band.

Erin K Hill: Erin is inspired by the folk tradition of down-to-earth melodies that convey everyday struggles and triumphs, and aims to make music that connects people, their surroundings, and their traditions. A multi-instrumentalist and brilliant songwriter with a deep understanding of the songwriting craft.

Black Dog Moon: Black Dog Moon is a 5-piece blues-infused rock and roll band that proudly wears their influences on the backs of their denim jackets but brings their own unmistakable swagger and perspective to the genre. Characterised by riffing, dualling guitars, thunderous drums, rumbling bass, and Conal's inimitable voice.
