We will use the ancient quarry route; Banns Road: Taking in built and natural heritage features all along the route.

We will use the ancient quarry route; Banns Road: Taking in built and natural heritage features all along the route. End destination is Slieve Lough Shannagh's shore line.

You can expect to see and learn about wet and dry heath habitat, smithy huts, old quarry features, bog pools, conservation grazing in action and more, as the landscape reveals her secrets.

Key information:

Meeting point: Game Keepers Lodge Car Park, 270 Moyad Rd, Kilkeel, Down, BT34 4SU
Parking: £3 all day parking fee
Difficulty: Moderately difficult walk on rough tracks on open hillsides for 3-4hours.
This walk will detour to interesting places off the main track.
Walking boots and rain gear are essential.
Recommended a warm drink (flask) and a hearty snack .
Binoculars insect repellent and a small sitting mat if you have them.
All proceeds will be used for conservation in the Mournes
