CHIEF CONSTABLE IN SAINT PATRICK CENTRE CONVERSATION

The Chief Constable of the PSNI, Jon Boutcher QPM, is to visit the Saint Patrick Centre Downpatrick to take part in their popular public Conversation series.
Mr Boutcher who was appointed Chief Constable three years ago will be interviewed by journalist and author Martin O'Brien in the Centre on Thursday evening September 24th at 7.30 pm.
Their discussion is expected to be wide-ranging taking in a host of issues from Mr Boutcher's career path to the present, the challenges facing the PSNI in becoming fully representative of the communities it serves to misogyny in the force, the impact of legacy on policing in post-conflict Northern Ireland and the unlawful surveillance of journalists. .
A native of Derby Mr Boutcher has had a distinguished police career that began as a cadet in the Metropolitan Police in 1983 and saw him play a pivotal role in investigating the 2005 London Bombings.
His CV includes stints on Scotland Yard's Flying Squad, the Anti-Terrorist Branch, Counter Terrorism Command and Regional and National Crime Squads before becoming Assistant Chief Constable of Hertfordshire Police.
Having retired as Chief Constable of Bedfordshire Police in 2019, he was appointed to lead Operation Kenova, an independent police investigation into the activities of the double agent code-named Steaknife and other unresolved legacy cases arising from the Troubles.
As an avid football fan he chairs UK Police Sport football and is a lifetime follower of Derby County FC.
