About

Discover the Art Hidden Beneath Your Feet

Join the Mourne Gullion Strangford Global Geopark and the AONB Team and Artist Julie Corcoran for a full‑day creative workshop where science meets art. Throughout the day, you'll explore soil chromatography—a beautiful technique that reveals the colours, patterns, and stories within the soil.

This hands‑on experience invites you to slow down, connect with the land, and see familiar places in an entirely new way.

Bring Soil from a Special Place
To make the workshop even more personal, bring a small handful of soil (around 20g or one tablespoon) from a location that matters to you:

A favourite walking spot
Your garden
A place filled with memories
Somewhere you want to help protect
Let the soil dry indoors for a couple of days before the workshop.

What You'll Do
During the workshop, you will:

Prepare and create your own soil chromatogram from start to finish
Watch the hidden patterns and minerals in your soil emerge
Chat with the AONB and Geopark team about the importance of soils across the Mourne Gullion Strangford Global Geopark
Leave with a unique piece of art made from the land you love.
Because the day is relaxed and creative, you'll have plenty of time to experiment, learn, and connect with others.
