About

Follow the beautiful Glen River track through Donard Wood until we reach the open mountain landscape, the stunning river valley opens in front of us, with Donard to our left, and Slieve Comedagh to our right. During our Guided Walk, we will explain the history of Granite quarrying on Slieve Donard’s slopes. We will share with you the story of The Mourne wall and the men who built it. Once you reach the summit, with any luck, you will enjoy stunning vistas of the Irish sea, you might catch a glimpse of the Isle of Man.
Slieve Donard towers over Newcastle far below with views out over Dundrum bay. On a good day there are views as far as Dublin Bay up the Irish coastline in one direction and Belfast lough in the other. The 853 m summit is quite a hike because we start from Sea level but well worth it.
Trust Mountain Ways Ireland guide you to the roof of Ulster and keep you in story and craic along the way!
