What a Time to Be Alive

About

Poetry Reading at The Bookshelf
In a world where many of us feel overwhelmed by the pace and weight of the news cycle, What a Time to Be Alive offers an evening of reflection, resilience and quiet power. Join three acclaimed Arlen House poets — Maureen Boyle, Deirdre Cartmill and Csilla Toldy — for a special poetry reading at The Bookshelf, Newry's independent literary hub. Together, these powerful voices explore what it means to live fully in challenging times: finding meaning through faith, memory and history; reimagining the lives of women who have gone before; and discovering moments of grace in the everyday. Maureen Boyle's work confronts survival — personal and planetary — with clarity and compassion. Deirdre Cartmill meditates on belief, place and how best to live with integrity. Csilla Toldy's poetry situates women's lives within history, tracing cycles of strength and transformation with quiet authority.
An intimate evening of poetry and conversation in the heart of the city — a space to pause, listen and reconnect
