Rare Witch | Newry Arts Festival

9 Kildare St,, Newry, Down, BT35 1DQ
Rare Witch

About

Rare Witch is a Belfast-based visual artist, animator and musician known for his prolific and
subversive animated shorts and outsider folk music. His distinctive animation style — sharp, surreal and satirical — has gained a cult following online, blending absurdist humour with pointed social commentary on Northern Irish life and culture. In live performance, Rare Witch fuses frenetic banjo playing with projected animated visuals, creating an immersive and unpredictable experience where music and moving image collide. His work moves between humour and discomfort, tradition and experimentation, offering a bold, contemporary take on storytelling through sound and screen.
