Gama Bomb

About

Gama Bomb: Survival of the Fastest is a joyous and heartfelt documentary following Newry-formed thrash metal cult favourites Gama Bomb on the road and across two decades of misadventure. When their seventh album Sea Savage hit the American Billboard charts but global lockdowns left the band stuck without a drummer and unable to tour, the story that unfolded was equal parts chaos and comedy as they set their sights on performing at Hellfest, the "Glastonbury of Metal."

Directed by Kiran Acharya, this 72-minute film captures the band's quest to keep playing music together across Europe, celebrating decades-long friendships, trademark humour, and the wild intersections of punk and metal culture. Featuring band members Philly Byrne, Domo Dixon, Joe McGuigan and John Roche, Survival of the Fastest has been praised as a warm, sharp and unexpectedly funny look at life as independent artists and musicians who refused to slow down.
Gama Bomb: Survival of the Fastest is an affectionate, unvarnished portrait of grit, friendship and the enduring spirit of rock from a band with roots in Newry that have reached audiences worldwide.
