About

“An immensely gifted storyteller whose songs soar to new heights in the live environment” Hot Press

No stranger to the beautiful Down Arts Centre, Brigid O’Neill is back! Expect a special musical treat of an evening, as Brigid delivers her songs and stories in her warm and engaging way, along with her band of the very best of Irish musicians.

Currently working on her 6th studio album, Brigid is revisiting her folk and traditional roots, so expect some new reimagining of classics, as well as the very best of her own original songs.

Reviews of her critically acclaimed latest albums and recent tour date performances, both with her own band and as a special guest of Paul Brady on his Irish tour, have reaffirmed that the gifted artist is one of the most versatile, unique, and fearless storytellers on the island.

Described by Ralph McLean of BBC Radio Ulster as “a great songwriter with a voice that can break your heart at 30 paces” and Fiachna O’Braonáin, RTÉ/Hothouse Flowers, as a “beautiful songwriter with great empathy and sensitivity,” Brigid’s music effortlessly weaves elements of folk, country, and jazz into relatable tales of happiness, heartbreak, and the human condition.

With 4 critically acclaimed previous album releases, The Truth & Other Stories and Intangible Heritage being the latest, she has performed worldwide, including the world-famous Bluebird Cafe. She is a recipient of numerous Arts Council and music industry awards, including being long-listed for the NI Music Prize and Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition.

Whilst echoes of artists such as Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Mary Black come to mind, as a confident songwriter, Brigid’s voice and sound are very much her own.

Brigid ONeill is supremely confident both musically and lyrically.” Glastonbury Festival.
