Aontas | Newry Arts Festival

9 Kildare St,, Newry, Down, BT35 1DQ
Aontas

About

Directed by Damian McCann and written by Sarah Gordon and Damian McCann, Aontas is a gripping Irish language black comedy thriller that unravels a heist gone spectacularly wrong. When three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the brink of collapse, attempt to rob a rural Irish credit union, events spiral into chaos. Opening in the tragic aftermath of the failed robbery, the story unfolds in reverse chronology, gradually revealing the choices, tensions and buried memories that led to disaster. At once darkly funny and emotionally resonant, Aontas is a fractured puzzle about consequence, identity and the inescapable weight of the past. Running at 91 minutes, this bold new feature showcases contemporary Irish language cinema at its most inventive and compelling.
