About

The Clay Project hosts ceramic workshops that celebrate the wonderful qualities of clay, creating a relaxed, social, and intentional space to make. All of our porcelain is proudly made in-house, and we source our materials as locally as possible.

Our pottery painting café and studio is located in Newcastle, County Down, overlooking the sea, where we serve locally made ceramics alongside coffee and buns.

From decorating functional ceramic pieces to getting your hands fully immersed in clay through hand-building, sculpture, casting, and printing, we offer a welcoming space to explore the versatility and joy of ceramics.

One of our most beloved workshops is our Flora Press Workshop.  Here, we walk around the beach and Donard Forest to collect seaweed, leaves and wildflowers to press into porcelain.  You can creat two beautiful art pieces.  We also offer handbuilding workshops, where you can make your own mug or charcuterie board.

We also host lots of fun hen partieis and kids' parties.

Stop by and enjoy one of our cappuccinos or iced matchas with a delicious bun while looking out at the sea from the outdoor terrace.  All ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and all the ceramic souvenirs and tableware in the shop are handmade in the studio.
